North East of the UK is home to many Bangladeshi singles and families. Many of them have settled here for generations, while others have recently migrated from different places around the world. This migrant population features diversity in qualifications, skills, affluence and regional heritage in Bangladesh. Despite differences the cultural pride they all share together is truly unique. Core to this pride is the rich history of Bangladesh and her language, Bangla.
UTSAB is a new initiative taken by a few families here in the North East to celebrate this rich cultural heritage. Our celebrations will reach out for mitigating the differences in generations, educating through multiculturalism and instilling pride. As an organisation, we strongly believe in our ethos of integration into the larger British society through common and educated views, rather than deviated and extreme ones.
As part of our envisioned activities, we aim to hold regular music, cultural and healthcare training sessions. We mark the major Bangladeshi and British events transpiring throughout the year, including National Independence Day, International Mother Language Day, New Year Day, Christmas and various Cultural Festivals. Besides, we organise outdoor trips and picnics for families in places of national and international heritage significance. During many of these events, we publish our eclectic thoughts and writings in the form of magazine, named 'UTSAB' (a Bangla word, which means 'Celebration').
We largely depend on community participation in our events, which are facilitated through endowments and contributions in the form of sponsorships. If you are more interested in our activities, please do not hesitate to write to us.
